The Wise Steward

Think of your brethren like unto yourselves and be familiar and free with your substance, that they may be rich and be familiar and free with your substance,
that they may be rich like unto you.

But before you seek for riches, seek ye for the kingdom of God.
And after ye have obtained a hope in Christ ye shall obtain riches, if ye seek them; and ye will seek them for the intent to do good—to clothe the naked, and to feed the hungry, and to liberate the captive, and administer relief to the sick and the afflicted.                              Jacob 2: 19

The Wise Steward

Financial Responsibility

The Doctrine and Covenants teaches us that he will hold us “accountable as a steward over earthly blessings.”  In some ways, money is a worldly concern and we should use caution in consuming too much of our thoughts and concerns with it.  However, as with all things temporal, there is a spiritual consideration.  For this award you will need to do one thing.

For Example:

 First, attend a class on the law of consecration and tithing and resolve to live these laws in your life.

 Do a project to earn money and save up for something.

 Open a bank account and learn how to use a checkbook.

 Read a book or pamphlet about managing your finances.

 Help recycle something (or several somethings).

 Head up a fundraiser to earn money for a project in the community.

 Attend a class on financial planning and  set a goal to budget your money and use all of your god-given resources as wise stewards.
